In commercial incubation, significant factors affect the hatch window. The incubator design, operation and profile determine the conditions for embryo development. The relative humidity, air temperature, laminar airflow and air velocity in the incubator affect the (uniform) embryo temperature. This in turn influences embryo development which impacts on the hatchability, chick quality, and therefore, the hatch window.
The incubator design, operation and profiles affect embryo development and have a greater impact on the outcome/hatch window than individual egg quality and embryo characteristics.
